The Bra Brigade
The Bra Brigade is designed to "support" at-risk girls who are participating in already-established sports programs. Because of the expense of a sports bra, lots of girls have never experienced the difference a sports bra can make in their comfort and performance. The Bra Brigade is here to help by providing sports bras to qualifying organizations. Check out our first Bra Brigade recipient and read up on the rules of the game.
Squash Smarts www.squashsmarts.org
Director: Julie Williams
Purpose: To teach inner city kids about the game of life through the game of squash.
The Deal: Since 2001 Squash Smarts has been creating opportunities for at-risk girls and boys in the Philadelphia area. As the girls in their program got more tuned in and turned on by squash, they began looking for big-time sports support and comfort from their bras. Their everyday bras just weren't cutting it. Julie Williams, their academic director and a Title Nine customer called us right up and asked for help. Well, that was a no-brainer for us. With a Bra Brigade grant, each girl got the sports bra of her choice.

Willow Oaks Running Club
Director: Nancy Kerrebrock
Purpose: To get a small group of motivated girls the support they need to keep on runnin’!
The Deal: A group of ten eighth-grade girls at Willow Oaks School have banded together in an after-school running program to train for a 3-mile race in December 2005. Most of the girls are training for the first time and their coach is committed to providing the whole nine yards of support: strength and stamina workouts, injury prevention, talks on positive body image, proper nutrition, and coping with asthma. These runners are working hard to support and motivate each other, and most of all, have fun. That sounds like something we can get behind!
